Important Update: Transitioning Hysync to a Competitive SMP
Introduction:
Hi everyone, After a lot of thought and careful consideration, I want to share an important update about Hysync. As the solo financer of this server, making this decision hasn’t been easy and it’s a tough choice, but I believe it’s necessary for the growth and future of the community.
Many of you may have noticed that the server has been in a more relaxed, peaceful state. Players could join, build, and optionally explore the economy and other features but growth has been slower than I hoped.
To take things to the next level, I’m transitioning the server into a Competitive SMP experience. Here’s what that means
1. Economy-focused gameplay
- From the start, the economy will be central to the server, creating meaningful ways to earn, trade, and progress.
2. PvP and competition
- Players can form Factions, compete for territory, dominate battles, and climb a ladder ranking system with in-game rewards.
3. Progressive content & Custom Mods
- I’ll be developing custom mods specifically for Hysync Competitive SMP, ensuring that the core mechanics are unique, fully under my control, and expandable over time. While I may still use other mods, the core systems will come from me.
4. RPG elements
- Expect parrying, new weapons, and other mechanics to make gameplay dynamic, strategic, and engaging.
5. Staff restructuring
- As part of this transition, the current staff team will be included, but I’ll also restructure positions. Anyone who wants to help Hysync can apply, and existing staff members can re-apply. I want the staff team to align with my vision of having an interactive, engaged, and active community.
- This transition allows me to explore new ideas, increase player retention, and create a more exciting environment while I continue to work toward the long-term MMORPG vision.
- The Aetherion SMP server will start in a paused state on February 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM GMT +8. Before the official opening, I’ll also be announcing a beta tester application so those who want to test the new features early can provide feedback and help me fine-tune the experience. To answer some questions you might have, here’s a detailed FAQ:
Q: Will we still get the MMORPG content?
A: Yes! The MMORPG remains my ultimate goal, but it will take time to develop. This transition ensures Hysync continues growing and keeps the community active while the MMORPG is in progress.
Q: Will MMORPG features be added to the new Competitive SMP?
A: Possibly! Depending on opportunities, I may integrate abilities, skills, custom items, dungeons, and other RPG mechanics into the Competitive SMP. This gives me a chance to experiment with the full potential of Hytale gameplay.
Q: Will there be a server reset?
A: Not exactly. Your current progress will be fully preserved. The world and all builds will be saved and used later when I open a separate Peaceful SMP server instance for peaceful gameplay, giving players who prefer an adventure, relaxed experience a place to continue exploring and building.
Q: Am I able to migrate my builds to the new Competitive SMP server?
A: Yes! I’m working on a way to copy and migrate your builds from the Old Server → New Competitive SMP Server so you won’t lose your creations.
Q: Will this new Competitive SMP server adopt a season-type gameplay?
A: This is still under consideration. While a “Season Type” format may happen in the future (especially with Gen V2 updates), it could take some time. If implemented, the world itself may reset, but your items and personal progress will always be preserved, regardless of whether I pursue a seasonal format.
